Title: SM 400SX Students in Selected Student Journey Who Demonstrated a Skills Gain
Definition: Among students in selected student journey, the percentage who had one or more skills gains, measured by advancing one or more CB21 levels or by improving one or more educational functioning levels in the selected year.

Selection Criteria: Students who met either of the following outcomes: * Advanced one or more CB21 levels or educational functioning levels: WHERE [MIN CB21 per term (GI03) must decrease in the selected year OR MAX(LEFT((SA07),1) must increase in the selected year] * AND EITHER CB21 advancement must be in the same discipline area: WHERE CB03 IN (493084, 493085, 493086, 493087, 493090, 493100, 493060, 493062) for ESL advancement OR CB03 IN (1701.00) for Math advancement OR CB03 IN (1501.00, 1520.00) for English advancement * OR SA07 advancement must be in the same discipline area: WHERE SA07 IN (1B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5S, 6S, 1E, 2E, 3E, 4E, 5E, 6E) for ESL advancement OR SA07 IN (1B, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5S, 6S) for Math and English advancement * AND within the selected year WHERE GI03 is within the selected year
Denominator: * SM 324SX Adult Ed/ESL Students Who Enrolled in Basic Skills Courses for SM 400SX * SM 324SU Undecided/Other Students Who Enrolled in Basic Skills Courses for SM 400SU * SM 324SW All Students Who Enrolled in Basic Skills Courses for SM 400SW
Value Type: Percentage and unduplicated count of students
Notes: * As part of SSM 2.6, the denominator of this metric has been updated to only include students who took a basic skills course * As part of SSM 2.6, skills gains must be earned in the same discipline area * This includes students who may have attained a skills gain in previous academic years; however the skills gain must have been earned in the selected year. * Enrollments in courses coded as "Y" (not applicable) for CB21 should not be considered in this Selection Criteria. * Includes skills gains earned at any California community college during the selected year. * New use of MIS data element SA07 summer 2019. The first position in SA07 is a number from 1 to 6 and increases with EFL. * The skills gain must be in the same discipline area, i.e. ESL, Math or English.
